This week on the podcast, my wife Kay and I experimented with ChatGPT by asking it questions about autism to see what it comes up with. It was an interesting experience, but frankly, not one I’d really care to repeat nor do I have any desire to use it for writing blog posts and podcast scripts in the future.
That being said though, I decided to experiment with ChatGPT one more time to see what it comes up with about the challenges spectrumites face when they transition into adulthood. This is what it came up with:
‘Autism, also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a lifelong developmental disorder that affects communication, social interaction, and behavior. While many people associate autism with childhood, it is important to understand that autism is a lifelong condition that continues into adulthood.
For many individuals with autism, the transition to adulthood can be challenging. Adults with autism may struggle with finding and maintaining employment, building social relationships, and living independently. This can lead to increased anxiety, depression, and social isolation.
One of the biggest challenges that adults with autism face is finding and maintaining employment. Many individuals with autism have unique strengths and abilities, but may struggle with social communication and interaction skills that are often required in the workplace. Additionally, the unemployment rate for adults with autism is significantly higher than for the general population, which can make it difficult for individuals with autism to achieve financial independence and stability.
Another challenge that adults with autism face is building social relationships. Many individuals with autism have difficulty with social interaction and communication, which can make it difficult to form and maintain friendships and romantic relationships. This can lead to feelings of loneliness and social isolation, which can have a negative impact on mental health and well-being.
Living independently is also a challenge for many adults with autism. While some individuals with autism are able to live independently with the right support and resources, others may require more extensive support and assistance. This can include living with a caregiver or in a supported living arrangement, which can be expensive and difficult to access.
Despite these challenges, there are many resources available to support adults with autism. This may include vocational training and support, social skills training, and supported living arrangements. It is important for individuals with autism and their families to be aware of these resources and to work with healthcare providers and support networks to develop a plan for transitioning into adulthood.
In conclusion, autism is a lifelong condition that continues into adulthood. While there are many challenges that adults with autism may face, there are also many resources available to support them. With the right support and resources, adults with autism can lead fulfilling and meaningful lives, and make valuable contributions to society. It is important for society to work towards greater acceptance and inclusion of individuals with autism, and to ensure that they are provided with the support and resources they need to reach their full potential’.
The funny thing is, I don’t disagree with most of what the AI said. I would only add the fact that the challenges spectrumites face as they go into adulthood can very much vary. Some will have a harder time than others. It wasn’t that long ago that I was traveling by bus (or Uber if it came to that) and using paper cash to buy or pay for most things since I’d be a bit of a monster if I only used my debit card. I was even paying my rent in cash. I wasn’t poor, but I lived like I did. It’d be a few years after that that I finally got driving down and got my license. My struggle with driving lasted for nearly eight years though, with a large gap in between when I wasn’t even practicing. Just because you don’t master a skill at first doesn’t mean you never will. It could be a few years before you get there, but practice is never the enemy.
See you guys next week when I talk about how Star Wars handled autism recently. Yes, you read that right!

The AI ChatGPPT is only using the data base of information created by real, live people. It has no real consciousness, nor intelligence of its own. It is basically stealing other people's work from the internet.
Have you seen how AI is now telling judges in the legal system how to sentence people?
If you do a search on You Tube... you will see how AI has been programmed with horrific bias. They sentence people of difference races very differently for the exact offense. Additionally, they are on film saying how one day, and I quote, "they will make humans their pets".
I will always choose God's creation, not mechanistic creation. Thank you for sharing!
